NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma men's and women's tennis teams will compete this weekend in Oklahoma City and Edmond. The men play Southwest Missouri State on Friday, Feb. 8, at 5 p.m., and face Northern Iowa on Sunday, Feb. 10, at noon. Both matches will be played at the Oaktree Country Club in Edmond. The women's team will take on Minnesota on Sunday, Feb.10, at noon at the Sante Fe Country Club in Oklahoma City.

The Oklahoma men's tennis team is 2-1 on the season after losing to New Mexico on Tuesday. Southwest Missouri State, who will be OU's first regional opponent of the year, is 0-3 on the season with losses to Tulsa, Indiana, and Murray State. Northern Iowa, who is 1-4 on the season, has defeated Kalamazoo and lost to St. Louis, Louisville, Bowling Green and Western Michigan.

"We've had a long-standing relationship with scheduling matches with SMS over the last 15 to 20 years," said OU head coach Paul Lockwood. "They recently lost to Indiana, which is one of the top 40 schools, so we'll be ready to play and bounce back from our loss at New Mexico. UNI, who we don't have a history of scheduling matches with, has solid players and will present a challenge for us."

The Oklahoma women's team is 3-0 on the season after upsetting No. 59 New Mexico, 4-3, on Tuesday in Albuquerque. Minnesota enters the match with a 2-3 record, with victories over Marquette and Iowa State and losses to Kentucky, Drake and then-No. 73 Wisconsin.

The Sooners host their first home match at the newly constructed OU Headington Family Tennis Center on Friday, March 1, against Oral Roberts. Match time for both teams is set for 1:30 p.m.
