Women's Golf Team Jumps To Third At NCAA Championships

NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma women's golf team moved into third place after two rounds of the NCAA Championships at the Washington National Golf Club in Auburn, Wash. Oklahoma turned in a second round score of 289, the Sooners lowest round of the year. Arizona leads the field, seven strokes ahead of Oklahoma. Duke's Virada Nirapathpongporn has retained the lead, but now shares it with Georgia's Summer Sirmons.

Senior Jennifer Tannehill carded a 75 to bring her two-day total to 145. Sophomore Lisa Meldrum carded her lowest round of the year (67) and tied her career low score. Meldrum, who is ranked second in the Big 12 in scoring averages, had six birdies in today's round. One stroke behind Meldrum is junior Allison Johnson, who carded a 74 in the second round. Senior Wendy Martin shot a one-over par 73 to move into 50th place and sophomore Hope Edge carded a second-round score of 76.

Oklahoma will tee off on the tenth hole in the afternoon group for the third round of play tomorrow.
