Sooners Set for Windon Memorial Classic

NORMAN, Okla. -- Oklahoma men’s golf team returns to the links Oct. 4-5 for the Windon Memorial Classic at the Conway Farms Golf Club in Lake Forest, Ill.

The tournament, hosted by Northwestern University, is Oklahoma’s first since the season opener Sept. 11-12. The Sooners were scheduled to play in the Carpet Capital Classic the next week, but it was rescheduled due to Hurricane Ivan.

The Windon Memorial Classic is a 54-hole tournament, with 36 holes played on Monday, Oct. 5, and the final 18 on Tuesday.

 The Conway Farms Golf Club measures 6, 733 yards and is a par-71 with a USGA course rating of 74.7 and a slope of 135.

 Last season OU advanced to the NCAA Championship for the fourth time in the last five years.  The Sooners made the NCAA Championship by finishing third in the NCAA Central Regional, their highest finish since they tied for first in 2001.

 Leading coach Jim Ragan’s squad this season will be All-American and NCAA Freshman of the Year Anthony Kim.  Kim spent his summer winning the Northeast Amateur title and competing in the U.S. Amateur Open.

 Kim will be joined by fellow All-American Carlos Del Moral, who was also named to the All-Region Team last season after recording four top-15 finishes.
 

Junior Brodie Flanders, sophomore Lane Branum and freshman Phillip Bryan round out Oklahoma’s starting five for the tournament.
