NORMAN, Okla. - Four members of the OU women's tennis team will compete in the Wildcat Invitational hosted by Northwestern University, Oct. 8-10 in Evanston, Ill.
Tara Eckel, Peta Maree Lancaster and Brittany Parks will make their second tournament appearance this fall while freshman Alice Radu makes her Sooner debut.
The Sooners will face players from Akron, DePaul, Illinois-Chicago, Iowa, LSU, Michigan State, Minnesota, Northwestern, South Carolina and Wisconsin. Eight of the 11 teams competing finished last season ranked in the ITA top-75, including three teams in the top-30. Host Northwestern finished the year ranked No. 7 nationally.
"I am expecting some very challenging matches this weekend at Northwestern," OU head coach David Mullins said. "It will be a great opportunity for these four girls to prove themselves against some of the top players from some other very good teams."
Radu signed with the Sooners this summer, entering the year ranked No. 730 in singles and No. 684 in doubles by the Women's Tennis Association (WTA).
Eckel, Lancaster and Parks competed in OU's Sooner Fall Invitational on Sept. 24-26, the three went a combined 5-7 in singles and 3-3 in doubles.
This marks OU's third-straight season to compete at the Wildcat Invitational.
