PREVIEWING OKLAHOMA
The Sooners enter 2010-11 following back-to-back trips to the Final Four. OU returns eight letterwinners from the squad, including three starters, and introduces six newcomers. Oklahoma was picked by the league's coaches to finish third in the Big 12 Conference this season.

Preseason All-American Danielle Robinson leads the team after a standout junior season in which she averaged 16.8 points and 5.3 assists.

Redshirt sophomore Whitney Hand, who suffered an ACL injury five games into the 2009-10 season is expected back on court in January 2011.

The Sooners introduce six newcomers, including high school All-Americans Aaryn Ellenberg and Nicole Griffin.

In the Polls
The Sooners are No. 14 in the USA Today/ESPN Coaches' Poll and No. 15 in the Associated Press Poll this week.

In the 602 week history of the AP Women's Basketball Top 25 Poll, the Sooners have been listed 203 times, including 182 weeks under Sherri Coale.

Oklahoma has remained in the Top 25 of both polls since the beginning of 2005-06 season, a total of 101 weeks in the AP poll and 98 in the coaches' (including preseason and final polls).

Oklahoma highest ranking in either poll is No. 2, which it was ranked following the 2002 season and for a few weeks in 2008-09. The Sooners ended the past two seasons at No. 4 and No. 3.

Team Votes Captains for 2010-11
Redshirt-sophomore Whitney Hand and seniors Danielle Robinson and Carlee Roethlisberger are co-captains of the Sooners this season. The captains were voted by their teammates.

D-Rob's Preseason Honors
Senior guard Danielle Robinson has been touted as the game's top point guard this season, and the watch lists have given notice as she appears as a candidate for virtually every award.

• Preseason Associated Press All-America First Team
• Preseason Wooden Award Watch List
• Preseason Wade Trophy Watch List
• Preseason Naismith Trophy Watch List

 Sooner to Watch

Morgan Hook | Fr. | Guard
Hook has found a home at the Lloyd Noble Center. In Norman, the freshman averages 13.0 points and makes 55 percent of 3-point field goal attempts. Those numbers have helped her become a proven commodity off the bench and a possible Sixth Man of the Year candidate.

PREVIEWING UAPB
Arkansas-Pine Bluff comes to Norman with a winless record, having last played in a 95-50 loss at Oklahoma State in Stillwater Tuesday night.

The Lady Lions will play their ninth of 10 games on the road against the Sooners.

Seniors Jasmine Abrams and LaQuisha Slaton lead UAPB, averaging 13 points each. Abrams is the team's leading rebounder, picking up more than six per game.

UAPB averages just 47.5 points and has struggled with its shooting, hitting more than 40 percent in just two games.

Whitney Watch
Beginning Dec. 26, Hand resumed full participation in practices and expects to play in the Jan. 2 game at TCU in her hometown of Fort Worth, Texas.

If Hand returns on Jan. 2, it will have been 401 days since she tore her ACL in the first half of an 87-48 rout of San Diego State in the Virgin Islands on Nov. 27, 2009.

Non-Conference Success
Oklahoma is 9-2 against non-conference teams this season, 23-7 in the past two years combined, 39-10 in the past three, 50-13 in the past four and 63-14 in the past five.

The Sooners also have a 39-game home winning streak against unranked non-conference opponents with the last loss in Norman being to SMU, 71-68, on Dec. 21, 2002.

Possession Obsession
Oklahoma's defense stifled its first four opponents, forcing more turnovers from each than allowing field goals. In the opening four-game span, OU forced 99 opponent turnovers and allowed just 68 field goals.

The Sooners have scored 234 points off turnovers, 26 percent of their total scoring (901 points). The Sooner defense has allowed just 230 field goals and forced 211 turnovers.

Fishing for Assists
Of Danielle Robinson's 66 assists, 35 (53 percent) have become Aaryn Ellenberg or Morgan Hook field goals. Against Ohio State, all eight of Robinson's assists were to OU 3-pointers, including all five scored by Ellenberg. Of Hook's 42 made field goals, 47 percent are Robinson-assisted.

NEXT UP
Oklahoma travels to TCU Sunday, Jan. 2, for its final game before the Big 12 schedule begins. The game will be televised on The Mountain (MTN) Network.
