NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma baseball team will conclude its five-week fall season with the annual Red-White Series this week.
Beginning on Wednesday, the team will split into Red and White squads and compete in a three-game set at L. Dale Mitchell Park that will end on Saturday.
Action gets underway at 2:30 p.m. on both Wednesday and Friday and Saturday’s finale is slated to begin at 11 a.m. The series is free and open to the public.
“We are looking forward to a strong finish to the fall season,” said OU head coach Sunny Golloway. “It has been a productive fall so far with some very competitive intrasquad scrimmages. I think the coaches and players are all very anxious to get the season rolling and building off our 2005 finish.”
OU opened fall practice on Sept. 4 with 14 newcomers and welcomed back 22 members off a 2005 squad which went 35-26 overall and 14-13 in Big 12 Conference play, finished fifth in the league and made an appearance for the second consecutive year at the NCAA Tournament.
The Sooners have already competed in nine intrasquad scrimmages this fall. The team will report back on Jan. 17 for individual workouts and begin team sessions on Jan. 22 in preparation for the 2006 season.
