NORMAN, Okla. -- OU sophomore Kendall Dye is tied for the lead at the Mountain View Collegiate after firing rounds of 71 and 68 Saturday at the par-72, 6,178 yard Mountain View Golf Club in Tucson, Ariz. Dye’s 4-under-par 68 in round two tied a season low for an OU golfer and is just two shots shy of an OU women’s golf record. The Edmond, Okla. native is competing unattached from team scoring in the 15-team field that includes 10 squads currently ranked in GolfWeek’s top-60.
The Sooners sit in 11th place after Saturday’s play with a two-round score of 592 (298-294). Nebraska leads the team standings after rounds of 287 and 285. The Cornhuskers are 10 shots clear of second place Northwestern. Elaine Harris of Indiana is tied with Dye for individual honors at 5-under.
Heather Wright heads to Sunday’s final round in a tie for 14th (72-73). Kelly Jaques is a stroke back after shooting 74 and 72.
Coming off of a career best finish in last week’s Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational, freshman Andrea Sellmeyer is in 26th place after rounds of 74 and 73.
Rounding out the OU scoring were Megan Goodwin and Chelsey Collins who stand in 70th and 86th place, respectively. Goodwin carded rounds of 78 and 76 while Collins shot 80 and 78.
