NORMAN, Okla. -- Courtney Paris had a record breaking afternoon against No. 25/22 New Mexico on Saturday. The Sooner center poured in 43 points, making the Lobos pay over and over for single teaming her, and 25 rebounds.

The end result was a new OU single game scoring record, breaking the previous mark held by Phylehsha Whaley, who had 40 against Arkansas in 1999 Postseason WNIT.  By shooting 20-26 from the field, she also broke the OU and Big 12 record for field goals made in a game.

Whaley and Paris are the only players in OU history to score 40 points in a game.  Paris is the only Sooner to score 40 and grab 20 boards and she became just the second player in the 11-year history of the Big 12.

Paris set the NCAA standard for scoring this season, surpassing Carrie Moore, who had 41 for Western Michigan in early November.  The previous high in the Big 12 was 33 by Tiffany Jackson against Texas A&M Corpus Christi.  The All-American was just five points shy of breaking the Big 12 single game record of 47.

It marks the sixth time that Courtney has scored 30 or more points and the sixth time she has reached 20 rebounds and the

She also collected her 700th career rebound - she currently has 707 - to become the quickest in Big 12 and OU history to the total.
