NORMAN, Okla.-- Freshman Ondrej Kacmar completed his second day of play at the sixth annual Baylor HEB Intercollegiate Invitational in Waco, Texas. No. 46 ITA ranked senior Marek Velicka was also competing in the tournament but was eliminated Friday.
Playing in the green bracket, Kacmar won his first match Friday against Rice’s Josh Greenberg, 6-3, 6-2, to advance to round 16. In his first match Saturday, Kacmar defeated Radford’s Mehdi Benhammou. In the first set he fell behind, 5-7, but came back to win the final two sets 6-4, 6-3. The win over Benhammou advanced Kacmar to the quarterfinals where he defeated TCU’s Stuart Row by default.
The win over Row advances Kacmar to the semifinals where he will face Tiago E. Santo of Wichita State at 8 a.m. Sunday. The winner of that match will compete in the championship game. Results will be posted as soon as they become available.
