NORMAN, Okla. - The greatest player in OU basketball history will be in attendance for the Sooners' Wednesday night game against Villanova at Lloyd Noble Center, and fans will have an opportunity to meet him.
Wayman Tisdale, OU's all-time leading scorer who was a first-team All-American in each of his three seasons in Norman, will be honored Wednesday as part of Oklahoma's 100th-year-of-basketball celebration. The lovable lefty will be available for autographs from 5 to 5:45 p.m. on the upper south concourse and the first 5,000 fans through the doors will receive a special Wayman Tisdale rally towel.
Tisdale scored 2,661 career points at Oklahoma (25.6 per game) and also holds career records for rebounds, field goals, field goal percentage, free throws and free throw attempts. The three-time Big Eight Player of the Year was the second overall pick in the 1985 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers. He scored in double figures in 103 of his 104 collegiate games.
