NORMAN, Okla. - For the second consecutive year, University of Oklahoma Head Women's Basketball Coach Sherri Coale will host an Oklahoma Basketball Coaches Clinic on Saturday, Aug. 28, from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Lloyd Noble Center. Assisting Coale with the clinic will be Jim Wooldridge, assistant coach for the Chicago Bulls, Nell Fortner, head coach of the United States' 2000 Olympic team, and Kathy McConnell-Miller, University of Tulsa head coach.

The day's events start at 8:30 a.m. with Wooldridge followed by Fortner at 10:30 a.m. Coale and McConnell-Miller will host the afternoon sessions from 1:15 to 5 p.m.

"This clinic is a tremendous opportunity for coaches and the general public to gain additional knowledge about the sport of basketball," said Coale. "We have put together a quality staff that has coaching experience on the professional, national and collegiate levels."

Coale is in her fourth season as head coach of the women's basketball team at OU. She returned the team to postseason action last season and established its first winning record since 1994-95. She is one of the top young coaches in the profession and has given new life to the Sooner women's basketball program. Wooldridge joined the Bulls' coaching staff last August. Before that, he served as head coach at Louisiana Tech (1994-1998), Southwest Texas State (1991-94) and Central Missouri (1986-91). Fortner has been the USA Basketball National Team head coach since 1997. She is responsible for training and coaching the squad for selected competitions and is involved in the overall conduct of women's competition program. Fortner also served one year as Purdue's head coach and earned 1997 Big Ten Coach of the Year and Basketball Times National Coach of the Year accolades. McConnell-Miller was hired as TU's head coach this past spring. Before that, she was a member of the University of Illinois (1995-99) coaching staff. She served as associate head coach for the Illini last season.

All coaches and the general public can register the day of the clinic. Registration begins Saturday at 8 a.m. and the cost is $55. All registered participants will receive a complimentary lunch. For more information, call the OU women's basketball office.
