NORMAN, Okla. - Former OU golfers Isabelle Beisegel, Kendall Dye and Lisa Meldrum completed the first 18 holes of the final tournament of LPGA qualifying school Wednesday at the 6,389-yard, par-72 Champions Course in Daytona Beach, Fla.
Meldrum, who holds OU's best all-time career stroke average, got off to a solid start and finished the day tied for 10th place. The Quebec, Canada, native fired a 2-under 34 on the front nine and shot a 1-over 37 on the back for her first-round 71 (-1).
Beisiegel, a fellow Canadian, carded a 74 (+2) after shooting 1-under on the front side and 3-over on the back. Beisiegel stands tied for 44th.
Dye, who graduated from OU last May, shot a front-nine 38 and a 37 on the back for a 3-over 75. The Edmond, Okla., product is tied for 59th after the first round. Four more rounds remain in the tournament.
The tournament features a $50,000 purse and the top 20 players will earn priority status for the 2010 season on the LPGA tour.
