Oklahoma Women's Basketball Set To Host Lithuania

NORMAN, Okla. - The University of Oklahoma women's basketball team hosts Arvi Vernitas, a club from Lithuania, on Saturday, Nov. 13 at 3p.m. at Lloyd Noble Center in Norman for its final exhibition game of the season. The Sooners defeated Norkoping Proderm of Sweden, 91-52, in their first exhibition outing on Monday at the Lloyd Noble Center.

Sophomore guard LaNeishea Caufield (Ada, Okla.) will head to the floor after posting a double-double for Oklahoma against Sweden. Caufield, who was named Big 12 Freshman of the Year last season, scored a game-high 19 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, followed by All-American candidate Phylesha Whaley (Slaton, Texas) who recorded 12 of her 16 points in the final 20 minutes. Sophomore Stacey Dales (Brockville, Ontario, Canada) and junior Desiree Taylor (Richardson, Texas) contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively. Dales also had team-highs of nine assists and five steals.

Arvi Vernitas is 1-5 during its United States tour, with its lone victory being an 87-71 win over Northern Iowa. The Lituanians have lost to Nebraska, 102-51, Iowa State, 91-62, Missouri, 96-50, Kansas State, 77-45, and Kansas, 80-67, all Big 12 schools. The squad will face Oklahoma State tonight at 7 p.m. in Gallagher-Iba Arena in Stillwater, Okla.
