NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma women's golfer Ellen Mueller was selected Monday to participate in the 2010 NCAA West Regional May 6-8 in Stanford, Calif.  The 54-hole tournament will be held at the Stanford Golf Course.
Mueller's individual postseason bid comes one day after the junior tied for 20th place with a 13-over-par 229 at the Big 12 Women's Championship at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club.  It marked the 11th time in 12 tournaments this season she led the Sooners.
"I'm very excited for Ellen," said OU head coach Veronique Drouin. "She worked really hard all year and to see that pay off is definitely rewarding for her.  I'm happy that we'll have someone representing OU in the NCAA regional tournament."
Mueller, an Evansville, Ind., native, has finished in the top 25 of each tournament during the 2009-10 season. Six of her 12 tournament appearances resulted in top-10 finishes. Her most recent top-10 finish came April 12-13 at the Baylor Spring Invitational, where she finished in third.
Mueller's 74.47 season stroke average is on pace to be the lowest in school history.
A total of 369 participants have been selected for NCAA regional competition at three sites.  Of those players, 126 will advance to the championships finals.  Eight teams and two individuals will advance from each regional.
The championships finals will be held May 18-21 at the Country Club of Landfall in Wilmington, N.C., and be hosted by the University of North Carolina, Wilmington.
