Each week during fall practice different OU baseball players will be featured in "Up Close and Personal Profiles." The features are designed to give the fan a more in-depth look at some of the members on the 2001 squad.

Do you have any superstitions and what are they?
I always have to go around the infield if I'm heading to the other side of the field. I never like to run through it. Also, when I throw to third base after a put out, I always have to be standing on second base.

If you weren't an infielder, what position would you like to play?
Centerfield, because that's what I played in high school. When I got to junior college, they turned me into a shortstop.

Who is your favorite non-baseball athlete?
Michael Jordan because he is one of the best athletes of all-time.

If you could have one last meal, it would be ...

If you could bring one thing from your hometown, what would it be?
My hometown.

What do you think is the best moment in sports?
When Carlton Fisk hit the game-winning home run for the Red Sox in Game 6 of the 1975 World Series.

Who was your hero as a kid?
Mark McGuire because he played for the Oakland Athletics when I was growing up, which is about 45 minutes away from my house.

What position did you play in Little League and what was your favorite memory?
I played shortstop. My favorite memory was when my team was playing Little League All-Stars and I pitched and won four games and also hit a couple of home runs.

What ballpark is your favorite on the road?
Texas A&M because they're fans were so great and I've never played in an atmosphere like that before.

What do you like to do during rain delays?
Talk with the fans and the other guys in the dugout.

What was the toy that you played with the most when you were younger?
Whiffle Ball

What advice can you offer to Little Leaguers just starting out?
Just go out and have fun.

Day games because that's the way the game was always played in the early days of baseball.

A banana split with two scoops of chocolate ice cream and one scoop of vanilla ice cream in the middle and lots of hot caramel and hot fudge poured on top, all on top of a big fudge brownie.

What is the best thing about playing college baseball?
The exposure, attention, top-notch competition and a chance to go to Omaha.

What position did you play in Little League and what was your favorite memory?
I was a pitcher and I just enjoyed having fun.

What's the scariest thing you've ever done?
Diving into the ocean at high tide and getting swept under by the current.

Do you have a pre-game ritual you perform?
I usually stay with the same routine every time. I really don't have any sort of special routine like eating the same meal before every game or anything like that.

What is the best piece of advice that a coach gave you?
Anything worth having is worth working for.

What's the one memory that stands out from your childhood?
Playing little league baseball and having my dad be the coach throughout my little league career.

If you could have one song played for you when you step up to the plate, what would it be?

Winning the state championship at Jenks (Okla.) High School.
