NORMAN, Okla. – Friday evening’s softball game between the University of Oklahoma and Seminole State has been pushed back to a 7 p.m. CT start at the OU Softball Complex. Admission donations and concession proceeds will benefit the Mariee Mena Memorial Fund setup through the Sooner Club.

"The loss of Mariee Mena has been the most difficult situation this program has ever dealt with," said Oklahoma head coach Patty Gasso. "We will serve Mariee’s memory by giving all we have daily, in true Marie Mena fashion. Our hearts are with her."

Mena, a former Sooner standout, passed away Tuesday from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident last weekend. Mena was a 2004 second team All-Big 12 selection and named to the NCAA Regional all-tournament team that season. She was a member of the Sooners’ 2003 and 2004 Women’s College World Series teams. Mena was a member of Oklahoma’s 2007 Big 12 Championship team and earned USA Softball and NFCA National Player of the Week honors on Feb. 27, 2007.

In addition to proceeds from tonight’s game benefitting the memorial fund, fans can also contribute donations at the game or by mail to the University of Oklahoma Athletics Development at 180 West Brooks, Suite 3575, Norman, OK 73019.  Please make checks payable to the OU Foundation and reference Mariee Mena.  For more information or to donate by phone, please call the Sooner Club at (405) 325-8000.

The Sooners are a perfect 5-0 in fall play. Oklahoma won the Fall Festival on Sept. 27 with a 13-1 win over Odessa College. OU closes out the fall slate next Wednesday, Oct. 14 against North Central Texas.
