COLUMBIA Mo. -- The University of Oklahoma soccer team was shut out by Missouri Friday night in Columbia, Mo., 2-0 in front of 371 fans at Walton Stadium. The Tigers scored goals in the 10th and 29th minutes to improve to 9-3 overall and 4-1 in the Big 12 while Oklahoma fell to 2-9-1 and 1-4.
Missouri's Sarah Sallee scored on a breakaway at the 10:42 mark to give MU a 1-0 lead. Sallee beat Sooner starting goalkeeper Ayn Toppin and was assisted by Amy Timmerman. Nineteen minutes later, Heather Buchheit netted an unassisted goal to end the scoring.
Toppin played the first 45 minutes and made three saves while giving up both goals. Freshman Jana Cunningham played the entire second half and made five saves without allowing a score.
Missouri, who is ranked in multiple top-25 polls, outshot the Sooners 24-10 and registered seven corner kicks to OU's two. Oklahoma held Nikki Thole and Erin Grimsley, who entered the game ranked seventh and 14th in the nation respectively, without a point. The Tigers' Jackie Adamec made five saves to record the shutout.
Oklahoma plays again Sunday at Kansas at 1 p.m.
