NORMAN, Okla. - The Oklahoma womens soccer team lost to TCU in Fort Worth,Texas, on Saturday afternoon in the Sooners eighth consecutive road game. OU, which has not played a home game this season, fell to 1-7 on the year.

We showed signs of fatigue in the first half. We had trouble meeting their energy, said OU head coach Randy Evans.

Midfielder Allison Calleri scored the Horned Frogs only goal of the contest in the first half at the 16:57 mark. Jennifer Maunder was credited with the assist.

OU recorded seven shots on goal, while TCU had five. Junior goalkeeper Ayn Toppin registered all four saves.

In the second half, the team played really well. We outplayed them and pressed them really hard. It looked like we were going to get the equalizer, but it just didnt come, Evans said.

Junior Midfielder Bridgette Smith was a bright spot in the middle of the field for the Sooners, according to Evans. Despite the loss, the first-year coach remains optimistic about the season.

The team is playing at a very good level. We are just looking forward to the opportunity to practice. Weve been on the road so much. Our last full pracitce was on Sept. 1.

OU returns to action at home on Sept. 28 against intrastate rival Oklahoma State. The bedlam contest is set for 6 p.m. and will be played at the Norman North High School soccer field.
