NORMAN, Okla. -- The OU soccer team got off to a good start on Sunday in the first action of the spring, a 2-0 win over visiting Central Oklahoma at the OU Soccer Complex.
Sophomore Kelsey Kraft led the Sooners' offense with a goal and an assist in the contest. Kraft put Oklahoma ahead 1-0 after she set up senior Ashley Farrand for the score.
Later in the contest, Kraft was on the receiving end of an assist by junior Lauren Alkek.
"It was a good start to our spring season," said OU Head Coach Nicole Nelson. "Some of the work that we've put into possession and combination in the final third of the field was evident today.
"We also identified areas that we need to continue working on. I thought our ability to maintain composure and keep control of the game while being a player short for the majority of the second half, showed some maturity on our part."
The Sooners finished the game with 21 shots opposite UCO's four and 10 of OU's tallies were on goal. The Sooners also led 5-0 in corner kicks.
Oklahoma returns to action this weekend with a showdown on Saturday with TCU in Austin, Texas. The game is slated for a 6 p.m. start. The Sooners have one home game remaining on the spring schedule. OU will host Arkansas on April 4 at 6 p.m.
