Men's Tennis Defeats George Mason, 7-0

The Oklahoma men’s tennis team dominated Thursday as it defeated George Mason, 7-0, at the GMU tennis courts in Fairfax, Va. The Sooners swept the doubles and the singles matches to claim victory. OU improves to 12-2 while the Patriots fall to to 0-6 on the season.

 Oklahoma started off strong in the doubles winning at all three positions. The undefeated duo of Silviu Tanasoiu (Sibiu, Romania) and Marek Velicka (Prerov, Czech Republic) moved to 4-0 on the season with an 8-0 victory over GMU’s Gara Kani and Oleg Sirghii. OU’s pair of Tommy Garrison (Enid, Okla.) and Ondrej Fukala (Prerov, Czech Republic) also posted a decisive win over GMU’s Tito Ballester and Tim Banton, 8-1.
 In singles play, Oklahoma won all six matches in straight-sets. Velika, Fukala, Garrison, and Tanasoiu all posted singles victories, losing only one game between them. Junior Matt Long (Ft. Worth, Texas) and freshman Lee Gregg (Altus, Okla.) both won in two sets, 6-0, 6-0.

 The Sooners next face Oral Roberts on Wed., March 24, at the OU Headington Family Tennis Center in Norman, at 2 p.m.
