NORMAN, Okla. -- The University of Oklahoma women’s golf team will travel to Ann Arbor, Mich., to compete in its third tournament of the fall season, the 2006 Wolverine Invitational, Sept. 30-Oct.1. The tournament, hosted by the University of Michigan, will be played on the 6,098-yard, par-71 UM Golf Course.
The Sooners return to the links after earning a third-place finish in the season-opening Badger Invitational in Madison, Wis., and a fourth-place standing at the Jeannine McHaney Inviational in Lubbock, Texas. The last time OU carded two consecutive top-five finishes was in the fall of 2003.
Competing for the Sooners this weekend will be Kelly Jacques, Megan Goodwin, Kendall Dye, Jaclyn Stelzer, Andrea Sellmeyer and Ryanne Elmer. It will be the first career tournament for Elmer, a redshirt freshman.
“Our lineup is a bit different and it is nice to give others on the team a chance to play,” said OU head coach Carol Ludvigson. “This shows our tremendous depth. We are looking for a top-three finish for our team and at least two in the top five individually.”
The first 36 holes of the 54-hole event will begin on Saturday with an 8 a.m. CDT shotgun. Sunday’s final round will also begin at 8 a.m. CDT.
The 10-team field includes Baylor, Eastern Michigan, Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State, Northwestern, Ohio State, Oklahoma, SMU and Toledo.
Live scoring will be available on www.golfstat.com throughout the weekend.
