NORMAN, Okla. – Incoming Oklahoma freshman Keilani Ricketts (San Jose, Calif.) led the Sorcerer Gold (Phil) to the 2009 Amateur Softball Association 18U Girls’ GOLD National Championship this past week in Oklahoma City. Ricketts’ all-around effort from the circle and at the plate capped off an unbeaten week for the Vallejo, Calif.-based team.

In Sunday’s championship final, the Sorcerer Gold defeated the 2008 champion Gold Coast Hurricanes from Plantation, Fla., 3-1. Ricketts’ held the Hurricanes to three hits and one run. She walked just one batter while striking out eight.

At the plate, Ricketts recorded three of the Sorcerer’s nine hits on Sunday. She scored the eventual game-winning run on a single in the fourth inning.

Throughout the weeklong event, Ricketts went 7-0 in the circle, fanning 58 batters in 47 innings of work. Ricketts gave up 15 hits, issued eight walks and hit .444 (8-for-18) with six runs batted in.

Future teammate Jessica Shults helped lead her team, the Worth Firecrackers, to a third-place showing at the event. The Firecrackers were eliminated by Gold Coast Sunday morning.
