Oklahoma Quotes

Head Coach Sherri Coale

On the game:
"I was very pleased with our defensive effort. I thought we adhered to the game plan, almost perfectly. We really contested their three point shots. I felt we did a better job of that than we have done all year. We rebounded well, which led to some transition baskets, which is essential to our offense. There was a little spell in the second half where we went flat and they closed in a little bit. It was defense that led to transition offense and broke it back open again. I think it was a good for us to see that little run by Iowa State and keep them at bay."

On Iowa State three point shooting:
"They missed a few open ones, that Iowa State teams of the past would not have missed. But for the most part, in the first half particularly, we really contested well. We challenged them and we keep stats of that every single game. Teams never shoot over 30 percent when they are contested. I don't care if you're playing UCONN. We keep that stat on the bench and I'll be interested to see what percentage of the shots they took we actually contested."

On Dionnah Jackson:
"She needs to take open threes. What was different about tonight was that she had open threes. She didn't have contested threes with five seconds to go on the shot clock. She had open looks and they were paying a lot of attention to Chelsi (Welch) early, which left somebody open. Anytime you see a zone or a box and one, people are going to be open. We knew a key to this game would be knocking down open shots. Lauren Shoush and Dionnah really gave us a breath of fresh air early."

Oklahoma Player Quotes

Sophomore Dionnah Jackson:

On taking open shots:
"I was open and they were manning Chelsea so we had a lot of open shots. It left me and Shoush open for a lot of shots. We have to take them if we're open."

On giving the extra pass:
"We worked in practice on taking open shots and I just took them. When someone passes up their shot and gives you an extra pass, you have to take the shot. The assist and extra pass just compliment each other."

Sophomore Lauren Shoush

On Dionnah shooting the ball:
"Dionnah has a great shot. She looks at herself as more of a passer. She realized tonight that we needed her to shoot the ball. She did exactly what we needed her to do. She led us out there."

On her energy during the game:
"After all our injuries this year, my role is to make sure that everyone is having fun and nobody is getting tight."

Iowa State Head Coach Bill Fennelly

On the steak of wins over Oklahoma being snapped:
"Most of these kids just wanted to go out today and win a game. The glory days of the rivalry over the past three or four years had two teams fighting for a Big 12 Championship, great individual players and great games. I don't think that's the case right now. You have two teams that are trying to get better and improve with each game."

On ISU's struggles shooting three's:
"They're a 28 percent three-point shooting team going into this game and they banked a few off the glass. We had some great looks and we go one for 23 and that was the game right there. Basketball is a game where if the ball doesn't go into the basket, you're going to lose. It doesn't matter how hard you play."

Iowa State Guard Lindsay Wilson

On ISU's struggles shooting three's:
"I can't speak for the rest of the team but all of my shots felt good. I felt I was getting good shots and I had enough arch on it. I thought most of them were going in until they clanked off the rim. I don't know it was just one of those nights. You have to give credit to their defense but we just couldn't find the basket."

On Dionnah Jackson:
"From what I had seen, I hadn't seen her shoot too much from the outside. But she's a great player and she just wanted to do what she could and we gave her the outside shot and to her credit, she put it down."
