NORMAN, Okla. - The seeds and matchups are set for the 2007 Phillips 66 Big 12 Men's Basketball Championship to be played March 8-11 at the Ford Center in Oklahoma City.
Oklahoma, which finished 6-10 in Big 12 play (15-14 overall), is the tournament's No. 9 seed and will face No. 8 seed Iowa State (15-15 overall, 6-10 Big 12) on Thursday at 11:30 a.m. The game will be televised on ESPN Plus and ESPNU. Iowa State defeated the Sooners in the teams' only meeting this year, 58-51 on Feb. 13 in Ames, Iowa.
If the Sooners beat the Cyclones they will take on No. 1 seed Kansas on Friday at 11:30 a.m. (also on ESPN Plus and ESPNU).
Saturday's semifinals contests will take place at 1 and 3:20 p.m. and Sunday's title game will tip at 2 p.m.
Joining Kansas as teams with first-round byes are No. 2 seed Texas A&M, No. 3 seed Texas and No. 4 seed Kansas State.
Texas Tech is the No. 5 seed, Missouri is the No. 6, Oklahoma State is the No. 7, Nebraska is the No. 10, Baylor is the No. 11 and Colorado is the No. 12.
This will be the 11th Big 12 Men's Basketball Championship. Oklahoma has won three titles (2001, 2002 and 2003) and owns the event's second best record at 17-7 (Kansas is 19-6). The Sooners' are tied with Kansas for the most championship game appearances at five.
