NORMAN, Okla. - Continuing to regain form in their first spring tournament, the Oklahoma men's golf team improved on its first round scores Thursday at the Leilehua Golf Course in Honolulu, Hawaii. The Sooners shot a team score of 284, the fifth-best score of the day, to move to eighth place overall at one-under par for the tournament. Tournament leader BYU posted a 274 to remain well ahead of the field at 26-under par.

Individually, UNLV's Jeremy Anderson posted his second consecutive 66 to move to 12-under par. BYU's Billy Harvey shot 67 and is nine-under par after two rounds. Sooner Chris James tied his season-low score by firing a three-under par 69, and is four-under par overall.

"We played better from tee to green than we did yesterday," said Oklahoma coach Gregg Grost. "We made a few birdies and a couple eagles, but still made several mental mistakes. We made a lot of bogeys on a course that should not give up many."

Grost said the Sooners missed some birdie chances, but look for continued improvement in the final round on Friday.

"There were a few birdie chances that we didn't take advantage of, but all in all we did better than yesterday," said Grost. "If we improve as much tomorrow like we did today, we can accomplish what we came out here to do. We need all five guys to play well for us tomorrow."
