NORMAN, Okla. - University of Oklahoma women's golfers Andrea Sellmeyer, Ryanne Elmer and Ellen Mueller were named to the 2010 Academic All-Big 12 First Team, the league announced Tuesday.  The Sooner trio was among 24 total first-team honorees.

Sellmeyer, a senior health and exercise science major from McAlester, Okla., was recognized academically by the Big 12 for the first time of her collegiate career and was one of three conference golfers with a 4.0 grade-point average.  Sellmeyer has competed in 10 of OU’s 11 regular season tournaments this year and has recorded three top-20 performances, including a career-best 10th-place finish at the Claud Jacobs Intercollegiate in March.

Elmer, also a senior and a first-time honoree, is a zoology/biomedical sciences major from Edmond, Okla.  Elmer has participated in four events in 2009-10 and notched a season-best 36th-place finish in Sept. at the Texas A&M "Mo" Morial Invitational.

Mueller, a junior from Evansville, Ind., earned her second consecutive first-team all-league academic award.  A health and exercise science major, Mueller has competed in all 31 OU events since she arrived on campus and is second on the school's all-time career stroke average list (76.0).  Mueller has been stellar all season with 10 top-20 finishes (five of them in the top five).  She has posted the Sooners’ low total in 10 of 11 events this year.

Nominated by each institution's director of student-athlete support services and the media relations offices, the women's golf academic all-conference squad consisted of 24 first-team members and six second-team recipients who have maintained a 3.00 GPA (either cumulative or over each of the two previous semesters) and have participated in 60 percent of her team's scheduled events.  First-team student-athletes are those who have maintained a 3.20 or better GPA, and second-team members have a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.

Freshmen and transfer students are not eligible in the first year of academic residence.  Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
