NORMAN – Oklahoma junior pitcher Mariah Lopez recorded her second no-hitter of the season as the No. 2/2 Sooners run-ruled North Texas 8-0 in five innings on Wednesday night at Marita Hynes Field.

Lopez now owns three solo no-hitters in her career; she also combined on one with Paige Lowary against Baylor in 2018. She surrendered just one walk and faced the minimum of 15 batters after the sole baserunner was out on a double play in the fifth.

The junior struck out six batters, improving to 11-1 on the year. Her performance Wednesday marked the 54th no-hitter in OU program history.

"Right now we’re playing really well,” OU head coach Patty Gasso said. “It was good to see all parts of the game working. I love how we come out and score fast. That allows our pitchers to settle in. Mariah really threw well, very sharp, very ahead of the game... I’m just very pleased with the way the team’s playing right now.”

On offense, the Sooners (26-2) stayed hot against the Mean Green (16-10), registering their seventh straight game with at least eight runs and 13th run-rule win of the season. Additionally, OU has now won 42 consecutive games at Marita Hynes Field.

Playing on her senior day, Raegan Rogers went 2-for-2 with two runs scored, an RBI and a home run.

Classmate Caleigh Clifton also finished 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI. She extended her hitting streak to eight games, setting a career-long streak.

Freshman Grace Green was 2-for-3 at the plate while driving in two runs and scoring one, while Jocelyn Alo also finished the day with a pair of hits.

Oklahoma jumped out to a three-run lead in the bottom of the first. Clifton drilled a single off the left-field wall, plating Alo from second.

Clifton scored after Nicole Mendes placed a single in right field. Green then took advantage of a fielding error to cross home.

The Sooners doubled their advantage with three more runs in the fourth, sparked by a leadoff home run from Rogers. Entering the 2019 season with one career home run, the Oklahoma native has now hit four in her senior season.

With Clifton and Falepolima Aviu both in scoring position, Green singled to center to score them both.

OU sealed its run-rule win in walk-off fashion in the bottom of the fifth. Jocelyn Alo doubled to right field to plate Eliyah Flores and put Rogers on third. Senior Sydney Romero then hit a sacrifice fly to center to score Rogers and seal the win.

Up next, the Sooners head to Lubbock, Texas to open Big 12 play against No. 14/12 Texas Tech.
