Llanusa Scores 31, OU Falls at No. 1 Baylor
WACO, Texas — Sophomore guard Ana Llanusa led the Sooners with 31 points, but Oklahoma fell to No. 1/1 Baylor, 87-53, on Saturday night inside the Ferrell Center.
Llanusa finished 7-of-18 from the field, matched her season-high with five treys and was a perfect 12-for-12 at the free throw line. She became the first Big 12 player to score at least 30 points three times in conference play this season. The sophomore also has scored at least 20 points in three straight games, the first Sooner to accomplish that feat since Peyton Little in 2015.
The Choctaw, Okla., was also the first player to score at least 30 points against Baylor this season and Llanusa's 12 free throws are tied for the sixth-most ever made by a Sooner in a single game in school history. The sophomore has led OU in scoring in five consecutive games.
Baylor's (23-1, 13-0 Big 12) Chloe Jackson led the Lady Bears with 24 points on 10-of-13 shooting. The graduate transfer guard recorded 20 points in the first half to help the Lady Bears build a 22-point halftime lead over the Sooners (6-18, 2-11 Big 12).
Lauren Cox provided 14 points, nine rebounds and seven blocks for the Lady Bears.
Baylor posted .500 field goal percentage and outrebounded the Sooners, 59-28. OU was limited to just 16-of-62 (.258) shooting, while the Sooners posted an .833 clip (15-for-18) from charity stripe. From beyond the arc, OU finished 6-of-18 (.333), while Baylor was just 2-of-9 (.222) from deep.
The Lady Bears held OU to a .179 shooting percentage as Jackson scored 20 of her 24 points in the opening two quarters. Baylor finished with a 48-12 advantage in points in the paint and held a 25-6 advantage in second chance points.
Ijeoma Odimgbe led the Sooners with six rebounds and three blocks. Jessi Murcer added seven points.
OU returns home Wednesday to face No. 18/21 Iowa State inside Lloyd Noble Center. Wednesday's game marks Sooner Jr. Fan Field Trip Day and the game will tip at 10:30 a.m. CT.
