TAMPA Oklahoma women's basketball battled tough with No. 21 USF, but a fourth-quarter surge by the Bulls was too much to overcome as the Sooners fell, 87-70, on Sunday.

OU (2-1) rallied from an eight-point halftime deficit and used a 12-2 run midway through the third quarter to the game at 45-45. USF (4-0) outscored the Sooners by a 29-16 margin in the fourth quarter to earn the win. The Bulls opened the frame with a 12-0 run early in the final frame and hit 10 of their final 11 shots to pull away from the Sooners.

USF's Laura Ferreira scored 21 of her game-high 34 points in the second half, knocking down eight 3-pointers on 11 attempts for the Bulls.

Freshmen Taylor Robertson and Madi Williams led the Sooners with 18 points apiece in their first road game as Sooners.

Williams also added in seven rebounds, two assists and one steal against USF. Robertson knocked down four 3-pointers and finished 6-of-12 from the field in 37 minutes. Robertson's 18 3-pointers are the second-most by a Sooner in the first three games of a season in school history.

Freshman Jessi Murcer scored in double figures for the second straight game, adding 11 points on 4-of-9 shooting off the bench. Mandy Simpson led the Sooners with 10 rebounds and added a career-high six assists.

The Sooners opened with a strong start, building an early 14-5 lead as Robertson and Tatum Veitenheimer hit early 3-pointers. The Bulls closed the opening frame with a 6-0 run to take the lead after one quarter.

OU finished 28-of-64 (.438) from the field, 6-of-17 (.353) from beyond the arc and 8-of-10 (.800) at the free throw line. USF posted a .500 shooting percentage and was 13-of-27 (.481) from 3-point range.

The Bulls won the rebounding battle, 37-35, while OU finished with 18 assists and scored 15 second chance points.

The Sooners open the Junkanoo Jam on Thursday in Bimini, Bahamas, and will take on UAB. Tip-off is set for 4:15 p.m. CT.
