NORMAN – Oklahoma women's basketball dropped an 80-61 matchup with Florida on Sunday afternoon in the Big 12/SEC Challenge inside Lloyd Noble Center.
Oklahoma (3-4) was led by freshman Shaina Pellington, whose 22 points on 11-of-17 shooting in 26 minutes off the bench. The freshman's 22 points were one shy of tying her career high.
Ana Llanusa added 13 points and five rebounds, while Maddie Manning contributed 11 points and six rebounds. Llanusa has scored in double figures five times during her first seven games as a Sooner.
Florida (5-3) knocked down 12 3-pointers against the Sooners and won the rebounding margin, 55-32.
The Sooners shot just .346 from the field (27-of-78), .150 from deep (3-of-20) and .500 from the free throw line (4-of-8).
Down 33-23 at halftime, the Sooners closed the gap to within seven points midway through the third quarter, but Florida responded by outscoring OU, 33-21, in the final frame.
The Gators were led by Dyandria Anderson's 29 points, while Funda Nakkasoglu scored 24 points. Anderson was 8-of-11 from the field, 6-of-7 from deep and 7-of-9 from the free throw line for Florida. Nakkasoglu hit four treys and added four steals.
The Sooners' bench outscored Florida, 48-0, while OU registered just seven turnovers. OU forced 21 Florida turnovers, but the Sooners could only score 16 points off of the Gators' miscues.
OU hits the road to face South Dakota State on Tuesday inside Frost Arena at 7 p.m. CT. The game will be streamed on ESPN3. The Sooners won last year's meeting with the Jackrabbits, 74-60, in Norman.
