NORMAN – Former Sooner women’s basketball All-American Courtney Paris begins her seventh season in the WNBA on Saturday night as the Dallas Wings open its regular season.

Paris and the Wings, which relocated from Tulsa to Dallas for the WNBA’s 20th season, will take part in the league’s opener in Indianapolis against the Indiana Fever at 5 p.m. CT on ESPN3. Paris won the WNBA’s Peak Performance for rebounding for the second straight season after finishing with a league-high 9.3 rebounds a year ago.

The first four-time All-American in college basketball history, Paris recently returned to the United States for the WNBA season after a highly-productive international campaign with Hatay in the Turkish Basketball League.

She averaged a double-double during the season with 13.1 points and 11.7 rebounds per contest and guided Hatay to the league’s championship final, finishing with 14.3 points and 14.0 boards during the three-game series.

Meanwhile, former OU point guard Danielle Robinson will miss the entire season for the San Antonio Starts while she recovers from offseason Achilles’ tendon surgery. A three-time WNBA All-Star, Robinson led the league in assists in 2013 and was named to the WNBA All-Rookie Team after the 2011 season.
