History & Tradition

Founded in 2008-09, the OU rowing program has quickly risen to the top. In just their fifth season, Head Coach Leeanne Crain and the Sooners won their first conference title and became the first Big 12 team to compete for a national title at the NCAA Rowing Championship in 2013. Along the way, the Sooners have amassed four conference Rower of the Year honors and three Coach of the Year awards in addition to numerous national awards and experiencing unparalleled success in the classroom.
