2015 Signing Day Central
NORMAN, Okla. – The 2015 University of Oklahoma Football recruiting class produced signees from coast to coast as the Sooners inked signees from eight different states and Canada. In total, Oklahoma announced 24 signees Wednesday, the first day of the college football letter of intent signing period.
The class is comprised of 21 high school athletes and three junior college transfers, encompassing 10 different positions.
“We got players that we needed at every position,” said head coach Bob Stoops. “I think this is a very athletic group of players. I am very excited and elated about this group of guys across the board.”
Once again, the state of Texas produced the most signees for the Sooners with 11, followed by Oklahoma with four and Louisiana and Mississippi with two student-athletes, apiece. The Sooners signed one player from California, Illinois, New York and Virginia. The Crimson and Cream also picked up a signee from Canada for the second time in three years.
“The states of Oklahoma and Texas are always our home base, everyone understands that,” Stoops said. “We really consider from Oklahoma down through the Dallas-Fort Worth area as our home base and then we branch out from there. We have always been one of those teams that has a national base and get a lot of interest from players around the country.”
The 17th signing class under Stoops featured six defensive backs, the highest total of any position group. In addition, the Sooners also added five offensive linemen, four wide receivers and four defensive linemen. Stoops is pleased with the numbers he has at each position heading into next season.
“When I look at our ideal numbers going in to next fall we are really right where we need to be at every position, and that doesn’t always happen,” Stoops added. “I feel like our staff did a great job with that in this class.”
Oklahoma’s 2015 signing class also included two linebackers, as well as a running back, a tight end and a specialist. Six early enrollees/mid-year transfers are already on campus in Norman and attending classes: running back Rodney Anderson, offensive lineman Jamal Danley, offensive lineman Bobby Evans, wide receiver John Humphrey, defensive back Will Johnson and wide receiver Dede Westbrook.
