NORMAN – The University of Oklahoma volleyball team fell to No. 23 Iowa State, 3-0, at McCasland Field House on Wednesday night. The Sooners nearly came away with the first set as each team had two set-points before the Cyclones claimed the set, 28-26. Iowa State then clinched the match with wins of 25-18 and 25-22 in the ensuing frames.
The Cyclones (19-6, 9-5 Big 12) were led by outside hitter Jess Schaben’s 18 kills on a .295 attack rate to go with seven digs and four blocks. As a team, Iowa State hit .311 led by a match-high .571 attack rate from middle blocker Avery Rhodes on 10 kills, while she added eight blocks.
Oklahoma (7-19, 4-9) was led by junior outside hitter Alyssa Enneking (League City, Texas). She posted her team-leading 16th double-double of the season on 13 kills and 13 digs; both team-highs. Junior setter Audrey Alford (Norman, Okla.) notched her seventh double-double with 32 assists and 10 digs.
ISU setter Monique Harris guided the Cyclones with 42 assists, 13 digs and four blocks. Libero Hali Hillegas matched Harris for the team-lead in digs with 13.
OU senior defensive specialist Emma Kelly (Houston, Texas) reached double figures in digs for the third match in a row with 12.
The Sooners return to action Saturday, November 18 at Kansas State for a 7 p.m. contest.
