NORMAN – Oklahoma women’s basketball’s Maddie Manning and Vionise Pierre-Louis earned honorable mention selections to the Preseason All-Big 12 Women’s Basketball Team, the league office announced Wednesday.

The preseason honors were chosen by conference head coaches, who are not allowed to vote for their own student-athletes.

Manning is OU’s top returning scorer after averaging 12.6 points per contest a year ago. The Ankeny, Iowa, native shot .424 from the field and .397 from 3-point range during the 2016-17 season. Manning tied for the lead in the Big 12 with 2.0 steals per game and averaged 5.4 rebounds per contest last season.

Among returning Big 12 players, Manning ranks third in 3-point field goal percentage (.397), seventh in free throw percentage (.800) and 13th in scoring (12.6). Manning, who was awarded a sixth-year of eligibility by the NCAA for the 2017-18 season, was a 2017 All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selection last year.

For the second straight season, Pierre-Louis earned preseason honors as an honorable mention selection. As a junior, Pierre-Louis averaged 11.9 points, 7.9 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per contest, while shooting .524 from the floor. In league play, Pierre-Louis led OU in scoring and rebounding at 14.1 points and 7.7 rebounds per game, while leading the Big 12 with 2.3 blocks per game against conference foes.

The Lake Worth, Fla., native recorded 71 blocks last season, a mark that ranks sixth in OU single-season history. Pierre-Louis enters her senior season fourth all-time at OU with 144 career blocks.
