No. 16 Sooners Defeat TCU, Earn 13th Big 12 Win

FORT WORTH, Texas -- Three Sooners scored in double figures as No. 16/16 Oklahoma defeated TCU, 73-64, Saturday night at Schollmaier Arena.

Vionise Pierre-Louis led OU (22-7, 13-4 Big 12) with 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Despite playing just 14 minutes due to foul trouble, the junior scored 16 of her 18 points in the second half.

Maddie Manning added in 15 points and tied for the team lead with seven rebounds in her first start since Feb. 4. Gabbi Ortiz recorded 13 points, seven rebounds and tied her career high with eight assists for the second straight game. Gioya Carter chipped in eight points and logged seven rebounds in 19 minutes.

T'ona Edwards gave OU a 32-31 halftime lead over TCU (12-16, 4-13 Big 12) with a steal and lay-in at the buzzer. The Sooners used a strong third quarter to increase their advantage to double figures.

OU outscored TCU, 24-15, in the frame and knocked down three of their six 3-pointers during the third quarter. The Sooners were 8-of-13 from the field in the quarter as Manning and Ortiz combined 16 of OU's 24 points out of the locker room.

The Horned Frogs trimmed OU's lead down to 61-57 with 5:17 left, but six straight points by Pierre-Louis, who had 10 in the fourth quarter, put the game away. The junior has scored in double figures in five straight games and is averaging 14.4 points a game against league foes this season.

OU outshot TCU, .421-.313, from the field and won the rebounding battle, 50-39. The Sooners set a season high with a .545 (6-for-11) 3-point shooting percentage in the victory and knocked down 19-of-29 (.655) at the foul line.

TCU's Jada Butts led all scorers with 22 points on 6-of-20 shooting, while Jada Butts scored 17 and finished with eight rebounds. The Frogs scored 27 points of 23 OU turnovers, but were to just 5-of-23 shooting from beyond the arc.

The Sooners have now won 13 conference games for the second time in the last three seasons. With the victory, OU has clinched at least the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Big 12 Tournament in Oklahoma City, Okla.

Oklahoma closes out the regular season on Monday night against No. 4 Baylor at Lloyd Noble Center. The Sooners will honor their senior class during a postgame ceremony. The contest will be televised nationally on Fox Sports 1.
