NORMAN  – The No. 20/24 Oklahoma women's basketball team secured an 85-80 overtime victory in a top-25 matchup against No. 25/RV Kansas State on Wednesday night inside Lloyd Noble Center.

With the Sooners (12-3, 3-0 Big 12) trailing by three with 20 seconds left, junior Gabbi Ortiz drained a clutch 3-pointer to tie the contest at 67-67 and force overtime. It was OU's first overtime game since Feb. 17, 2015 and its first win in OT since Nov. 29, 2014, vs. Illinois in the Paradise Jam.

OU went on to outscore K-State (11-4, 1-2 Big 12) by a 18-13 mark in the extra frame to snag the win and move to 3-0 in Big 12 play. The undefeated start represents the third time in the last five seasons that the Sooners have opened their conference slate with a 3-0 mark.

“I’m really proud of our team," head coach Sherri Coale said. "I thought our response to some late adversity was really positive. Obviously, Gabbi (Ortiz) hits a huge shot to get us to overtime and then our execution in overtime was just spot-on. We just went in and out of the game offensively. We had a great first quarter, but it went away in the second. We had a really strong third quarter, but it kind of went away in the fourth. Again, I think our response was terrific and it was good for us to have been in that situation. We fought our way through it to finish with a win.”

Junior Vionise Pierre-Louis and redshirt senior Maddie Manning combined for 12 of OU's 18 overtime points with seven and five, respectively, as the Sooners made six of their seven shot attempts in the period, while hitting 5-of-7 at the free throw line to seal the win.

Manning paced OU with 20 points and 11 rebounds in the second double-double of her career, one of four Sooners to post double-digit scoring performances against the Wildcats.

Pierre-Louis contributed 17 points and six rebounds off the bench, while Ortiz finished with 16 points and senior Gioya Carter added 12. Ortiz made all four of her 3-point attempts, which ties for the most makes without a miss in the Coale era. Manning, Pierre-Louis and senior T'ona Edwards each tallied a team-high four assists.

Little and Ortiz combined for 15 points and five made 3-pointers in the first quarter to aid the Sooners to a 25-12 advantage after the first 10 minutes of play. OU entered the locker room with a 33-26 lead before stretching it back to double figures at the end of the third quarter, 54-44

K-State opened the fourth with a 9-0 run to cut the deficit to three before a Pierre-Louis bucket halted it with just under seven minutes left to play. The two squads traded leads the rest of the way.

Up next, the Sooners travel to Morgantown, W. Va., to take on No. 17/16 West Virginia. The game is scheduled for 3 p.m. CT on Sunday and will air on FS1.
